Course Description: This online text-based course introduces the learner to adolescent substance use disorder treatment and provides an overview of the 13 principles developed by the National Institute on Drug Abuse. Included is a discussion of treatment settings as well as evidence-based approaches to treatment, including behavioral approaches, family-based approaches, addiction medication, and recover support services.

Audience and Course Level: This course is appropriate for Psychologists, Mental Health Counselors, Social Workers, and Marriage and Family Therapists who work with adolescents at risk for or currently suffering with substance use and abuse disorders. The course level is considered introductory since it provides an overview of the principles associated with adolescent substance use treatment and presents the learner with a discussion of evidence-based approaches and no prerequisite training is required.
